Small Business Award

This award recognizes a business with 20 or fewer employees, including the owner, with a minimum 50/50 split between full and part time employees. The company has been operational and completed five or more fiscal years at the time of the nomination, and has demonstrated professional integrity, excellence in customer service, success through innovation and a commitment to the community.

  1. The business has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community.
  2. The business, its owners, and/or its employee(s) participate and/or support community and industry-related activities.
  3. New and innovative approaches/initiatives are used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in a particular facet of the business such as marketing, exporting, innovation, production, etc.
  5. The business has a robust planning process and keeps their team engaged in achieving the goals of the plan.

Medium Business Award

This award recognizes a business with 21-50 employees, including the owner, with a minimum 60/40 split between full and part time employees. The company has been operational and completed five or more fiscal years at the time of the nomination, and has demonstrated professional integrity, excellence in customer service, success through innovation and a commitment to the community.

  1. The business has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community.
  2. The business, its owners, and/or its employee(s) participate and/or support community and industry-related activities.
  3. New and innovative approaches/initiatives are used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in a particular facet of the business such as marketing, exporting, innovation, production, etc.
  5. The business has a robust planning process and keeps their team engaged in achieving the goals of the plan.

Large Business Award

This award recognizes a business with 51 or more employees, including the owner, with a minimum 60/40 split between full and part time employees. The company has been operational and completed five or more fiscal years at the time of the nomination, and has demonstrated professional integrity, excellence in customer service, success through innovation and a commitment to the community.

  1. The business has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community.
  2. The business, its owners, and/or its employee(s) participate and/or support community and industry-related activities.
  3. New and innovative approaches/initiatives are used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in a particular facet of the business such as marketing, exporting, innovation, production, etc.
  5. The business has a robust planning process and keeps their team engaged in achieving the goals of the plan.

Not-for-Profit Organization Award

This award recognizes a registered not-for-profit organization which has been operational and has completed at least three fiscal years at the time of nomination. The organization has made an outstanding contribution to the social, cultural or economic well-being of the Greater Fredericton Area while exhibiting stability, maintaining a good relationship with its volunteers and demonstrating best business practices.

  1. The mission/objective/goals of the organization reflect a community need.
  2. The organization has robust tools in place for recruiting volunteers.
  3. The organization maintains a strong and ongoing relationship with its volunteers.
  4. The organization has demonstrated growth.
  5. The organization has a reputation for integrity in its dealings with clients, volunteers, staff or other individuals/groups.
  6. New and innovative approaches/initiatives are used in order to benefit the organization and/or its clients/volunteers.

Community Involvement Award

The award recognizes a business that has made an extraordinary social, cultural or environmental impact on the Greater Fredericton Area.

  1. The business has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community.
  2. The business’ corporate cultural reflects an emphasis on community involvement.
  3. The business partners/supports with not-for-profit organizations, charities or other community efforts.
  4. The business, its owners or employees provide support to the community with a financial and/or time commitment.
  5. Two testimonial letters specifically referencing how the business’ has impacted the community.
  6. The business trains its workforce to encourage community involvement.
  7. The business encourages giving back to the community through

Start-up Award

This award recognizes a local company that has completed less than five fiscal years at time of nomination and is demonstrating professional integrity, excellence in customer service, success through innovation and a commitment to the community.

  1. The business has met or exceed its own financial/growth expectations as described in its business plan.
  2. The business has the potential to scale up.
  3. The business is being managed with future and competitiveness in focus.
  4. New and innovative approaches/initiatives are used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.

Business Person of the Year Award

This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of a business owner/manager that has succeeded through innovation, risk-taking and a commitment to the community and/or achieved success through introducing new products/services or growing an existing product/service through a new approach. The individual’s business has completed at least five fiscal years at the time of nomination.

  1. The individual has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community.
  2. The individual demonstrates leadership through supporting community and/or industry-related activities and/or encourages his/her employees to do so.
  3. The individual deploys new and innovative approaches/initiatives in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in a particular facet of the business such as marketing, exporting, innovation, production, etc.
  5. Demonstrated success in introducing new products/services or growing an existing product line.

Resilience Award

This award recognizes a business that has been operational for at least three years and has overcome a major challenge/change that was not exclusively financial in nature within the past ten years.

  1. The business is an independent enterprise or a franchise.
  2. The business experienced a recent and significant change/challenge.
  3. The business was growing and/or sustainable before and after the significant change.
  4. New and innovative approaches/initiatives were used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
  5. The business has remained in the same industry or used the change/challenge to adapt.
